Abstract
The purpose of the thesis was to study how to use electronics in interactive demonstration devices. The thesis was based on four versatile and extensive devices built for the Finnish Science Centre Foundation.
The design of demonstration devices and technical possibilities are studied. The construction and the way of function of the four example devices are described on system level, and on that basis ideas and thoughts of how to produce new devices are described.
If the demonstration device being designed has complicated working functions then the use of a computer to control the system is recommended. The computer used should be a regular microcomputer which is connected to the rest of the device via special electronic circuits. The programming of the computer may end up to be a difficult task because of the nature of the continuing process – computer is not allowed to stop the running of the program and wait for inputs. A way solving the problem is to use electronics and computer techniques in cooperation.
