Volunteers at Heureka

We are looking for new volunteers to guide and assist exhibition visitors. Are you eager and willing? Heureka is a unique exhibition and activity centre, communicating about science and research. Heureka is a place to experiment and understand. Heureka attracts around 300,000 visitors a year, of whom most are families with children. School children account for around one third of all visitors. Heureka’s activities are the responsibility of the Finnish Science Centre Foundation. Half of Heureka’s annual operating expenditure comes from the community.

What work can you do at Heureka?

Volunteers work in Heureka’s explainer unit. Their closest working colleagues are explainers and other people employed in serving the public. The volunteers’ task is to guide and assist visitors in the main exhibition and temporary exhibitions. From among our exhibitions you will surely find something fascinating to call your own.

Can you be a Heureka volunteer?

We are looking for cooperative, independent and service-oriented people to conduct journeys of exploration with our visitors into the world of science. Volunteer work is open to people who are currently not in work as well as to students and those working in all kinds of different professions. At Heureka you can put your hobby and education to good use. Volunteers can give visitors the benefit of life experiences and views that other staff do not have. We will help you obtain the Heureka spirit and basic information with the aid of a familiarisation programme. If you want to work, for example, for only a couple a days a month at Heureka, you are the person we are looking for. You can decide for just how long you wish to commit yourself.
