The From the kitchen to the dump exhibit compares the lifestyles of three different families, each with four family members. The Carefree family uses a great deal of individually packaged products and foods that come in multiple layers of packaging. The Recycler family sorts all the recyclable materials separately from other household waste, which means that less waste ends up in landfill sites. The Eco-Effective family tries to use every product as efficiently as possible, with the lowest possible environmental impact.
It is easy to reduce the amount of household waste at home by thinking about what you buy when you are in the shop. Consumers can reduce waste quite effortlessly by paying attention to the necessity and durability of the things they buy as well as package size and the amount of wrapping materials used.
