Exhibition Move and play! inspires to move

On January 31, 2009 the Finnish Science Centre Heureka introduces the new temporary exhibition Move and Play! to the public. This exhibition is intended to inspire visitors to move, play and have fun together through shared activities. Within a setting that encourages them to move, the visitors will discover various types of games involving creative insights and the newest technology.

This exhibition, with more than 20 different exhibits, also offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the impact of physical exercise on their own bodies. In connection with each individual exhibit, visitors will learn what sensory processes the specific exhibit activates or requires, what physical skills it develops and what type of mental processes occur while using the exhibit.

Special groups have also been taken into consideration during the exhibition's design phase. Two thirds of the exhibits have been designed so that they can be used even by visitors with a limited capability of motion. On the other hand, the exhibition also offers the opportunity for anyone to experience what it is like to move around, for example, in a wheelchair.

The exhibition is Heureka’s own production and will be on display in the science centre until March 28, 2010. One can tell simply by looking at the names of the exhibits that this will be a diverse and amusing exhibition: Football on the bench, Disco donut, Sailing by shouts, Team stomp, Nostalgic tennis, Wriggle through the tunnel, and so on…

The main partner for this exhibition is Nintendo, which is participating in the exhibition with its own Wii games. Veikkaus is also a supporting partner for the exhibition. Other co-operative partners include: Presentor, Infradex, Kerko Sport and Ubergames.
