Heurekas centrala uppgift är att främja förståelse av vetenskaplig kunskap och utveckling av metoder inom vetenskapsundervisning. De viktigaste målen för den pedagogiska forskningen är:

  • informell inlärning
  • motivationens roll i inlärningsprocessen
  • utställningen som öppen inlärningsmiljö
