    3 facts about photographic memory

    1) When a person perceives something and creates a memory trace of it, an iconic memory moment is created. At that time, the brain fully preserves the memory trace, but that moment usually lasts less than a second. If a person has a photographic memory, the iconic memory trace is long-lasting.

    2) Photographic memory, or eidetic memory, is a very rare ability. The trait is found in only about 2% of people.
