Welcome to our water exhibition!

Water is the basis of all life. All the water you drink, touch, or use in your daily life has been circulating on our planet for billions of years. Water and its cycle create the conditions for life on our planet.

Heureka's Water – The Stream of Life exhibition takes you into the fascinating world of water. You will learn about the journey of water from glaciers to the sea and learn about freshwater reserves. The exhibition also allows you to consider how human activity affects the sufficiency of water and its natural cycle.

The exhibition is suitable for all ages and interests, for children and adults, as well as for the curious and those who like to delve deeper. Watching the water flowing from the glaciers to the sea is enchanting, and there are many interesting things to do by the stream. You can listen to the story of the glacier, explore hidden water, build dams or a flood-free city, and look for good water features in the miniature models.

The exhibition's interactive content table offers an opportunity to delve deeper into the water cycle, the impacts of human activity, and sustainable choices. The exhibition, aimed at the whole family, takes the world of water into a new and exciting way!

Educational materials related to the exhibition (in Finnish!)

Water is the core substance of every human life. The human “soul rests by the water”, material flows travel along water, countries unite and separate through waterways, organisms and cultures form and develop in areas bounded by water. Our task as inhabitants of the Earth is to ensure that we do not deprive other living things of the basic conditions for life.

In the following participatory tasks, students can personally examine water as part of us and others, our world. The tasks can be used without visiting the exhibition. For example, only one of the interdisciplinary and cross-subject tasks is chosen, which can form a lesson-long entity. By combining the tasks, the content can be obtained for a water-themed theme day.
