• Children's Medicine Day

    On Saturday, 22.8.2026 10am–6pm, we're organizing the beloved Children's Medicine Day, where both children and adults can step into the shoes of a doctor or researcher.

    Interesting special program will be organized during the day, in addition to which all Heureka exhibitions will be open.

    Tip! The Giants of the Ice Age exhibition is open until 30.8.2026, so it is definitely worth visiting during the event.

Teddy Bear Hospital

Does your teddy bear or doll have an owie? At the Teddy Bear Hospital run by HUS, children can check the well-being of their stuffed toy and take care of it.

What does a fire truck look like and what is inside? Firefighters will be showing off the fire truck throughout the day.

At the Galilei Science Park, you will have the opportunity to meet guide dogs during the event. You can also ask questions about how to treat guide dogs and how they are trained.

  • 1. Creative Workshop

    Oh no, in the workshop the patient has various symptoms, such as sneezing, a rash and itchy eyes. How can we get rid of the symptoms? The children get to make an allergy hero that can help the patient feel better.

    2. Science Workshop

    How does the stomach work and what causes food sensitivities? This workshop will introduce you to the functioning of the digestive system, consider the factors behind food sensitivities, and explore acids and bases.

    In the workshop, the whole family will learn about how different food sensitivities affect our bodies while playing a board game.

  • Food courage for all senses!

    What is umami and in which foods can you taste it? Do you have a keen sense of smell? And do you use your sense of hearing when you eat? Come and learn more about your own senses and food. There will be tastings and tests for all your senses!

    Handwashing workshop

    What's going on in the soil and why handwashing is important? The workshop will examine soil and sand under a microscope and reflect on the importance of handwashing.

  • Exploring light

    What do sunglasses and a phone screen have in common? Come and explore the polarization of light and experience the phenomenon in practice.

  • Space sunscreen

    How does sunscreen work? The workshop will test the effectiveness of sunscreen using UV beads.

    Who is the medical master in your family? Come test your knowledge in a fun children's medical quiz! One round lasts an indefinite amount of time.

    Learn about hearing - try a hearing test!

    At the Hearing Association point you can get information about hearing and the importance of it. There is no need to stress about testing your hearing!

New food friends

At the Finnish Society for Food Education Rukku's lecture we wonder about why we maybe shouldn't eat our favourite foods everyday? Can you train your own sense of taste and if so, where should you start? In the lecture, a food education expert will briefly shed light on the functioning of the human senses and why and how both children and adults can learn to eat previously unknown foods.

The lecture will last 15 minutes. The lecture is in Finnish.

Tarkkana! Science Theatre

The show Tarkkana! challenges the audience to think about whether even the performer's incredible claims can be true.

Print your own medical badge

Would you like to be a dentist, veterinarian or surgeon? Come and make your own doctor's badge! In the workshop, a photo will be taken, a doctor's title will be chosen and your own badge will be printed, on which you can write your name. The finished badge will be placed in a name card case.

Note! The price of the workshop is 2 €. Payment is made on site with MobilePay or by card.

The picture will be taken in the workshop on a tablet using the ClapSnap system. The pictures are not saved in the system, but are deleted immediately after printing.

  • A tame rat takes a break from eating and looks out of its box.

    Rat feeding shows

    What is a rat's favorite food? Why does a rat hide its food? These questions - and many more - will be answered during the rat feeding show.

    In the rat feeding shows, the rat inspirer serves the rats fresh delicacies such as salad, cucumber, carrot and grains. While the rats are munching on vegetables, the inspirer talks about the rats' behavior, feeding and everyday life at Heureka's Rottala. The show lasts about 15 minutes.

    Planetarium

    In the planetarium, films are shown on a hemispherical screen, which makes the viewer feel like they are at the center of the events.

    You can reserve your place to the film through a QR code, which can be found on the screen in front of the planetarium.

  • Meet and greet: Rudi

    Rudi is a familiar sight at Heureka and is very well-liked! During the event, you can pet Rudi if you wish and ask Rudi's owner Tiina about visual impairment.
