Water Family Day
Buy tickets 3€ cheaper in advanceWelcome to an event for the whole family on Saturday, April 11th from 10 am to 6 pm, where you can dive into the secrets of water. In the workshops, you can experiment yourself, and learn new things about water, which is vital to us. Heureka's exhibitions are open as usual during the event.

Children under 5 years old with a paying guardian can visit Heureka for free.

What happens at a family event?
Family Days are an excellent time to a visit to Heureka: with the same ticket you get to see Heureka's exhibitions and planetarium films as well as participate in the day's special program. The special program includes various workshops, which you can learn more about by scrolling down this page.

Microscopically examine microplastics
Put on your lab coat and come and learn about microplastics through a microscope! At the same time, you will learn about the significant sources of microplastic emissions.

Miniature stream workshop
In the miniature stream workshop we'll build a miniature world with a real stream flowing through it. The workshop talks about environmental construction and how beauty is one of the most important characteristics of a landscape.

Hidden water quiz
Which takes more water to produce, wheat bread or rye bread? What about grapes or mangoes? Why should you choose potatoes over rice?
In the hidden water quiz, you will learn about the concept of water footprint and guess
the amount of water used in the production.

On the journey of water
How does water change shape on its way from glacier to sea, from sea to clouds, and
from clouds to rain? And does more water come from somewhere, or is the amount of water always the same on Earth?
The presentation introduces the water cycle on Earth and the different forms of water.

Through the eyes of a satellite: water phenomena
You get to explore how different water phenomena are seen from space and how satellite observations can help understand environmental changes. The web-based Copernicus Browser is used to examine, for example, the algae situation in the Baltic Sea, glaciers and desert irrigation areas.

Did you know this about wastewater treatment? (in Finnish!)
Wastewater treatment, like most critical infrastructure, is located and operates hidden from view, mostly underground. The talk will explain how wastewater travels from residents to the treatment plant, how the treatment takes place, and where the treated wastewater ends up.

Welcome to Heureka's inspiring science theater! Tarkkana! science theater performance challenges the audience to wonder whether the performer's incredible claims can be true.

HEUREKA'S BELOVED DOMESTIC RATS
We feed the rats! (in Finnish)
In the rat feeding show, the rat inspirer serves the rats fresh treats such as lettuce, cucumber, carrots and grains. While the rats munch on the vegetables, the inspirer talks about the rats' behavior, feeding and everyday life at Heureka's Rottala. After the show, the audience has the opportunity to chat with the rat entertainer and ask questions about the rats.

Meet guide dog Rudi
Learn about visual impairment and guide dog activities
Come and ask about visual impairment and guide dogs from experienced expert Tiina Borgman (FM). You also get to meed guide dog Rudi!
Note! If Rudi has a harness, please do not pet or talk to him, because then he is working. When he is not in a harness, you can pet and talk to him.
The age limit for the planetarium is 5 years.
Planetarium films on the program during the day
The renovated planetarium will also be showing films on the day of the event. There are three different films on the schedule, which you can learn more about in the cards below.
Tip! Heureka has set an age recommendation for each film, which can help you in choosing the film best suited for you. However, age recommendations are not restrictions - everyone over the age of 5 is warmly welcome to every film!
Note! On the day of the event, seats for the film are reserved by scanning the QR code located on the information screen in front of the planetarium.
