The Power of Play partnership:
PPG Tikkurila

At the end of 2022, PPG Tikkurila signed a three-year partnership agreement with the Finnish Science Centre Heureka to support science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. The grant will help fund Heureka’s ‘Power of Play’ exhibition and will also support color workshops for young students. PPG Tikkurila has also donated paint for the exhibits.

“Heureka is a natural partner for us because Heureka and PPG Tikkurila have a lot in common. We want to be actively involved in supporting science and technology education and interest in science. Heureka offers inspiring ways to learn about science in an engagingly practical and interactive environment. Our history of diverse cooperation dates back to 1989, the time when Heureka was established near us in Tikkurila, Vantaa,” says Meri Vainikka, Managing Director at PPG Tikkurila, and continues:

“Our aim is to build the next generation of STEM leaders to help society meet collective challenges quickly, creatively and effectively. The company supports students at various points along their educational continuum and is helping increase the number of young people with an interest in STEM, especially diverse students entering advanced STEM studies.”

PPG Tikkurila was born in 2021 when PPG acquired Tikkurila. However, the roots of our company date back to 1862 when Tikkurila was founded. What started out as a small oil press grew over time into a leading Nordic paint company, part of the global PPG today. PPG serves customers in more than 70 countries.

For the Power of Play exhibition, PPG Tikkurila donated 364 liters of paints and related products, including Diccoplast Primer, Diccoplast 30, Dicco Color, Merit 30, Merit 80, Temadur 20 and Dicco Color.

The Power of Play reminds us of the importance of play and playfulness; playful activity is the basis of a happy life – at all ages. Play is universal, natural and necessary for the comprehensive development and wellbeing of humans.

PPG’s global community engagement efforts and the PPG Foundation aim to bring color and brightness to PPG communities around the world. PPG invested $16.2 million in 2022, supporting hundreds of organizations across more than 35 countries. By investing in educational opportunities, we help grow today’s skilled workforce and develop tomorrow’s innovators in fields related to coatings and manufacturing. Learn more at here.
