Partnership stories:
Collaboration in the artificial intelligence and robotics impact programme: CSC
CSC – IT Center for Science is a Finnish centre of expertise in information technology owned by the Finnish state and higher education institutions. We operate the common European supercomputer LUMI in our Kajaani data centre. The third-fastest supercomputer in the world, LUMI also serves as an advanced artificial intelligence platform. The national supercomputers Mahti, Puhti and Allas are also located in Kajaani.
We are involved in Heureka’s Artificial Intelligence and Robotics impact programme and in an exhibition partnership for the Me, Myself & AI exhibition. We want to bring the opportunities of AI to the attention of ordinary people and inform them of its uses. AI is already making our daily lives easier, but it can also limit and distort the information we receive. That is why we also encourage critical thinking.
Both the collaboration and event planning with Heureka have gone smoothly. In addition to the exhibition itself, we have participated in Heureka’s family day and an H-18 evening for adults, among other things.
Participation in events does take some time and organisation within the company, as we must create content that is sufficiently interesting for the target groups of Heureka events. For example, for Heureka’s H-18 evening on artificial intelligence, we first considered what might be of interest to the event’s audience. We then discussed the suitability of our ideas for this event and the ideas of the other participating companies with a Heureka representative. Fortunately, at CSC we had already developed a “test your knowledge of supercomputers” mobile game for our customers, which gave the visitors to the exhibition a nice opportunity to test their knowledge of supercomputers. We also created dazzling art with the aid of artificial intelligence. In addition, we developed a pickup line bot for this friendship-themed event: it comes up with a pickup line for any situation!
The work we put into event planning becomes concrete at the event itself when we meet Heureka visitors. They are enthusiastic, curious and positive, and do not hold back. The feedback is immediate. These are truly feel-good events! Our own experience of collaboration is positive, and we can recommend Heureka events to other companies as well. Throw yourself in and dare to get a little carried away too.

“The events at Heureka have been very interesting for us. The audience looks at AI issues mainly from outside our familiar bubble, but still with great interest and enthusiasm. It’s been a pleasure to present the results of our work at the events.”
